Welcome to the Cook County Trauma Ultrasound Team!
The purpose of this unique blended learning program is to rapidly provide effective training in Trauma Ultrasound (TUS) for all Trauma clinicians. This training is designed be springboard for you to learn more advanced applications such as US in Shock, Lung US, and Echocardiography.
Your program begins with baseline educational needs and knowledge assessments. The learning starts independently with completion of online narrated lectures. This is followed by an initial, small group, hands on workshop during which you will perform 10-15 TUS exams on simulated patients with expert instructors. Next, during routine clinical work your must complete 10-15 TUS exams on actual patients and appropriately record findings for QA review.
At the end of the program, you will participate in a wrap up workshop during which QA feedback is provided, hands on skills are again practiced, and post training knowledge and skills assessments are completed.
Along the way, completion of your work will be tracked, and your scores will be posted by your nickname on our TUS Leader Boards. Successful completion of this Program requires an ongoing commitment to improving patient care with TUS and boldly beating the scores of any colleagues who dare to challenge your new TUS knowledge and skills.
